Currently in the Republic of Macedonia there is an anti-Bulgarian hysteria, which shows that Macedonian is not only an ideology, but also a mental deviation. This was stated to BNR by BAS historian Voyn Bozhinov.
According to him, the Macedonians think that in this way they will mobilize society for the cause to start negotiations with the European Union.
He warned that the hatred caused a backlash, so Skopje should have realized that this was not the focus.
According to Bozhinov, South Macedonia’s self-confidence comes from the political class educated in socialist Yugoslavia, as well as from the fact that behind the country there are solid European countries.
According to him, it is high time for Germany to express its position, either behind a member of the European Union or behind a candidate country for the EU. According to him, Germany has obvious political and economic interests in the Balkans, because the enlargement of the EU means the expansion of German influence in our region.
The historian emphasized that Bulgaria also gives different signals.
“There are high hopes in Skopje that they can make a breakthrough after the elections in Bulgaria. Buckovski’s meeting with Cornelia Ninova was very interesting, because apparently the Skopje side wanted to probe the plans of the larger opposition party. But he left. Sofia with curly tail, “Bozhinov commented on the situation.
According to him, our diplomacy must have extremely sophisticated forms of action, on the one hand to protect our national interests and, on the other, to demonstrate that Skopje has a place in the European family, so as not to initiate destructive processes that could even lead to its disintegration. .
Bozhinov pointed out that Bulgaria’s interest is for the RSM to exist as an independent state. The reason he pointed out is that his presence on the map breaks the land connection between Serbs and Greeks, which is of great interest to our country, because this is a border that has always suffocated Bulgaria.
According to the historian, newly elected US President Joe Biden will not be a leading figure in foreign policy, but pressure from Washington on the issue is increasing significantly.
