Ludogorets’ side recorded their fifth consecutive defeat in the Europa League group stage. The Bulgarian champion lost to Antwerp 1: 3 during his visit to Belgium. Razgrad’s goal of honor was the work of newcomer Kiril Despodov early in the second half. This was the forward’s first goal in the Ludogorets jersey.

The hosts started the match strong and retired at half-time with a goal advantage, but the Bulgarian team had their good moments early in the second half, when they tied the score. Antwerp came out again after a controversial goal from the experienced Richie de Lae, who scored with a header, but before the ball went through the door, he touched his hand.

Ludogorets’ losing streak in the group stage gives the team the last place in Group J. Svetoslav Genchev’s team has not won a single point so far, and in their last match they host LASK Linz in Razgrad.

The match started with pressure from the locals, who got their first real chance to score in the 3rd minute. After a series of errors in the Bulgarian defense, first by Grigore and then by Anton Nedyalkov, the Antwerp team had an excellent opportunity, but luck covered the “eagles”. The ball was passed into the goal area, where Gerkens fired from close range, but hit the door frame. Immediately afterwards, the hosts came to a corner, after which, however, there was no danger to Vlado Stoyanov.

Ludogorets’s first shot came in the 8th minute, when Anton Nedyalkov tried his luck with a long diagonal shot, but the ball flew through the door.

The next opportunity in the match went to Koji Miyoshi. The hosts’ right midfielder tried very well with his nose and after reaching the penalty area he tried to strike with his left foot. However, his precision betrayed him and the leather ball in no way hindered the Bulgarian guard.

The hosts remained the most active team on the ground, permanently settling in the middle of the Bulgarian champions until the 20th minute, when the result opened. After an attack from the right, the Antwerp players easily seized the field to pass the ball to the Cameroonian Martan Onla, who took the leather ball, took care of Abel Anise and with a powerful shot from 23 meters left no chances for Vladislav Stoyanov.

Only five minutes later the hosts made an unforgivable pass. After another error by Abel Anise in the bottom of the Razgrad half, Refaelov stole the ball and passed Miyoshi down the right wing, instead of shooting, he passed Benavente, who completely alone, from four meters shot over the door.

In the 30th minute, after another attack by several passes from Antwerp, another dangerous blow was struck at the Bulgarian goal. This time it was sent by Gerkens, who was exposed in the penalty area, but his shot flew past the right post.

At the end of the first half, the hosts missed another great opportunity. This time at the peak of the hosts’ attack was Uklerod, who shot hard diagonally, but was also inaccurate. In the reds’ next attack, Gerkens broke to the right and fired diagonally to shake the left post behind Stoyanov.

Three minutes before the break, Stanislav Genchev’s problems got even worse. The specialist had to make a forced change to his team after Jordan Ikoko sprained his left thigh and was unable to continue the game. Georgi Terziev took his place on the right side.

The last chance for the first half was again at the expense of the hosts. After centering from a corner. Richie de Lae edged out everyone in the penalty area and shot with his head, but inaccurately.

The second part started well for Ludogorets. In just seconds, Razgrad created two great scoring opportunities and claimed a penalty for a hand from Richie de Lae. In the first attack after the first referee’s signal for the second half, Kiril Despodov went completely alone against the home goalkeeper, but his weak shot was killed by the goalkeeper with his foot in a corner. Behind the cross, De Lae played frankly with his hand, but the head referee ruled that there was no intention in the defender’s actions. In the attack that followed, Mavis Chibota also had a scoring chance, but her shot was blocked.

In the 53rd minute Kiril Despodov got his revenge in the best way for his mistake at the beginning of the half. This time the new addition to the champions was final and scored 1: 1. Cowley Oliveira led the forward behind the home defense with his left foot, leaving no chance for the hosts’ French goalkeeper.

After a goal from Ludogorets, the locals again increased their sales volume and in the 61st minute they had a great opportunity to take the lead again. Yuklerod was carried behind Razgrad’s defense and was left alone against Vlado that Stoyanov missed, sending the ball to the right post.

In the 71st minute, Razgrad acted rather naively up front and failed to exploit a mistake by taking the ball from the hosts. Tekpetei crossed a pass and ran to the front, reached the penalty area and looked for a combination with Elvis Manu, who, however, could not control well, was busy and could not shoot.

Seconds later, the hosts hit a free kick in the middle of the Ludogorets, after which the “eagles” showed an old weakness in static situations. After the subsequent centering, the defense of the Bulgarian team returned to act with confidence and allowed Richie Da Lae to direct the ball with his head in the right corner of the goal for 2: 1. There were doubts that after hitting the defender’s head, the ball touched his hand, but the referee was silent.

The final result of the game was formed by winger Benson, who took advantage of a pass from Miyoshi on the left and almost with an empty net could not miss by 3: 1.

In the continuation of the match Dragos Grigore received a second yellow card and was sent off.
