Liverpool took a late turn on West Ham after Diogo Jota hit the mark in the 85th minute for the 2-1 victory. The Hammers took a somewhat surprising lead in the 10th minute after a goal from Pablo Fornals, and in the 42nd Mohamed Salah equalized from a penalty.

The final minutes of the match were especially dramatic, after a goal from subsidiary Diogo Jota was disallowed in the 77th minute. However, in the 85th minute the Portuguese realized after an elegant pass from Jerdan Shakiri.

Thus, Liverpool climbed to the top of the standings with 16 points, 3 more than the second Everton, who will visit Necasl tomorrow. West Ham is 13th with 8 points after its first 7 games.

Jurgen Klopp had a lot of problems in his team and had to start Nathaniel Phillips. The defender hasn’t even been in the group for Reds games so far.

Liverpool controlled the ball, but West Ham’s counterattacks were quite dangerous. The guests managed to take the lead after just 10 minutes of play. Joe Gómez clumsily cleared a ball centered to the left with his head and put it at the feet of Pablo Fornals. The Spaniard left Alison in place with a shot in the near corner and made it 1: 0.

Liverpool were under pressure and in the 25th minute Jurgen Klopp’s men had a good chance to equalize. Mane and Salah failed to score, and then Henderson’s shot from the edge of the area went through the door.

Thus came the end of the first half, when Masuaku committed a foul in his Salah penalty area. The referee pointed at the white point, and the Egyptian in cold blood with a powerful shot in the center of the door made it 1: 1.

After the break, events on the pitch didn’t change much. Liverpool controlled the ball twice, but it was difficult to get into real situations. The Hammers were very dangerous on the counterattacks and Pablo Fornals missed a good opportunity in the 50th minute.

In the 66th minute, in another misunderstanding in Liverpool’s defense, Fornals jumped back into shooting position. However, the Spaniard selfishly approached and shot Robertson’s legs, although Bowen was left alone against Alison a few feet away.

In the end, Liverpool pressed and in minute 77, the ‘Reds’ thought they had returned. Reserve Diogo Jota scored a ball deflected by the goalkeeper. After a long commotion, the referee “consulted” with the VAR and annulled the goal for a foul in Mane’s attack seconds before.

However, in the 85th minute, Jota scored 2: 1. Another reserve, Jerdan Shakira, cut through the guests’ defense down the middle with a superb pass, and the Portuguese only off Fabianski fired hard under the crossbar. This was Jota’s third goal for the Premier League since he was drawn by Wolverhampton.

Soon after, Salah chose to combine with Mane instead of Jota, who was in a clear position. The Portuguese was disappointed and the pass to Manet never came.
