However, Williams is a completely different category compared to previous opponents of the Plovdiv woman. Although the former №1 will turn 39 on September 26, the age in this case is no longer a certificate, since the winner of 23 Grand Slam titles continues to play at a very high level, due to her passion for the game, the Championship mentality and 20+ years of experience behind him.

In the overall statistics, Serina leads 4-0 over Pironkova, but their last meeting dates back to 2015 in Cincinnati (7: 5, 6: 3). Tsvetana has won two sets against the favorite in New York (5: 7, 6: 1, 6: 1) at Roland Garros in 2007 and at Eastbourne (1: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4) 4 years later.

The former first racket from Bulgaria has scored 430 points, with which she will finish 155th in the ranking, and if she wins against the American, she will enter the top 100.
