We are entering a very serious phase of the COVID-19 epidemic. A little later, Associate Professor Kunchev will present current information about the country, compared to other countries and where we are in the EU. The biggest problem before us right now is related to front-line doctors, because we have a serious shortage in terms of their physical capacity: all are tired, most are infected, sick and some are in intensive care or quarantined. . We need help. We see the solution in the active participation of physicians in pre-hospital medical care. Doctors work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, they work for all of us. That is why I will urge the mayors of the municipalities where there is a shortage of specialist doctors to hold a meeting between the directors of municipal hospitals and doctors in pre-hospital medical care and seek a solution to be employed in medical institutions, said the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov.

“We will hold a conference call with the rectors of medical universities to discuss the possibility of sixth-year” Medicine “students who are doing their state internships to help doctors in medical establishments and consider this as their internship and recognize We will also contact our medical colleagues to find nurses, of whom we also experience an acute shortage in hospitals, “he added.

The only way to reduce the pressure on the health system is to follow the measures and find solutions to reduce the number of people who are infected with the virus. Today at 3:00 p.m. we will have a meeting with the Bulgarian Restaurant Association to seek joint solutions and at 4:00 p.m. they will be notified of the results of our meeting, added the Minister of Health.

“During the last 24 hours the tests are 8738. 1472 are the new cases. 33,335 were confirmed in total and 17,598 were cured. 14,689 are active cases in the country. The cured are more than the active cases so far. 1727 are the doctors that are positive. 45 are for the last day, of which 14 doctors, 13 nurses, 4 nurses and 4 paramedics. For the last day 29 people died and a total of 1048. There are deaths who are younger. We have a man of 50-year-old who died of heart disease, a 40-year-old man for whom there is no information on comorbidities, and a 46-year-old woman with heart disease. As for doctors, the total number is 1727 infected. There are 580 cases active, of which 513 in home treatment, 74 in medical institutions and three in intensive care units, ”added Minister Angelov.
