The Minister of Education, Krassimir Valchev, assured that the return of some of the children to school will be accompanied by the mandatory observance of all measures. “It will still be possible for individual schools to switch to online education if the incidence increases again in the region,” Valchev said.

“We are indebted to Bulgarian education and sports, but we are aware that for children to win the Olympics, for Bulgarian athletes to win, they must be healthy,” said Health Minister Prof. Kostadin Angelov.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Denitsa Sacheva, added that the compensation measure for people in closed businesses, which amounts to BGN 24 per day, will be in force until January 31.

“We have already submitted more than 4,000 employer applications for more than 19,000 employees.” Payments will be made in the days leading up to Christmas and holidays, “Sacheva added.

He said that more than 32,000 parents of children in online education have requested specific assistance. It will also be possible to request the measure in January.

“We have enough money for this and next year. For a whole month they will receive a minimum wage, respectively, proportionally for each week that the child was in distance education,” Sacheva explained.

So far, around BGN 20 million have been paid to parents who have had to hire babysitters.

Prime Minister Borissov emphasized that the changes in the anti-epidemic measures, which will be in force until January 31, 2021, take into account the arguments of the experts and act in the interest of young students to receive adequate training in a pandemic, relying on pedagogical supervision and teacher training. to guide them.

During the working meeting with Prime Minister Borissov, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov reported on the current data on the incidence of COVID-19 in Bulgaria. “There is a very slight decrease in the incidence and the percentage of positive tests. Prime Minister Borissov also said that the COVID-19 pandemic had caused an unprecedented financial and economic crisis and was leading to bankruptcy. The Minister of Economy, Lachezar Borisov, said that on Monday the platform will be opened through which companies can request support under the measures developed jointly with the National Revenue Agency. At the same time, after the notification from the European Commission, immediately after the New Year, there will be an opportunity to launch the measure in support of the so-called “Big small companies” with a turnover of more than BGN 500,000. The Economy Minister also affirmed that together with the chief state health inspector, Angel Kunchev, they will hold talks with large retail chains for stricter compliance with the anti-epidemic measures. “Given that there will be restrictive measures in January, we have considered this opportunity in advance, that is, with a minimum of administrative effort, companies will be able to apply and receive support in any period in which they were closed,” he said.
