Levski’s fans came out with an official request to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov that the state help the club, because the financial situation is so difficult that the players may soon begin to terminate their contracts.
“TO MR. BOYKO BORISOV
PRIME MINISTER OF
THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA
DEAR MR. BORISOV,
Bulgaria, Europe and the world face serious challenges. For four months, the efforts of all humanity have come together to stop the development and destruction of the COVID-19 pandemic. Millions of infected, hundreds of thousands of deaths, overloaded social and health systems, isolation, distancing, unemployment, collapsed economic forecasts …
We are aware of the efforts made by the entire country and its leadership, as well as the concrete results, thanks to the timely and concrete actions of the government and the national operational headquarters.
We are entering a period of relaxation of restrictions, the gradual calm of the situation and the restoration of a more normal rhythm of life. Every day brings us closer to the return of our traditional daily commitments, rhythm of work, activities and sports.
We hope that sports matches, individual and team competitions and championships will resume soon in Bulgaria.
However, our great pain and care is “LEVSKI”.
After the extreme events in January, which practically deprived our favorite club of funds, our team faces the wall. The lack of funds, the presence of old accumulated debts with the state, companies, clubs, players, agents and others have led to an unprecedented situation. Executives gave up their salaries. The entire coaching staff followed with dignity. They had to turn to fans to save the club. And the “LEVSKI” supporters did something invisible:
Hundreds of thousands of levs were collected from donations, text messages, sporting goods, tickets and season tickets for 1,200,000 BGN, an entire stadium was sold even for a match to be played without spectators …
A GREAT CLUB WITH A GREAT AUDIENCE!
Mr. Prime Minister,
We turn to you as the leadership of the state. The heroism of Levski’s millions of players saved the team and the honor of “PFC LEVSKI”. But this heroism cannot continue indefinitely. The monthly expenses, obligations and salaries of the players are beyond the reach of any audience. Alimony cannot be left to the goodwill of parents, pensioners and their children and grandchildren. It is imperative to provide serious funding from both owners and sponsors and advertisers. And here state intervention is needed. During their governments, huge funds were allocated and invested throughout the country for the construction of sports infrastructure, construction and repair of stadiums, gyms, playgrounds, gyms, facilities, etc.
Tens and tens of millions of levs have been set aside and provided to support various soccer clubs across the country. State companies and municipal companies finance and support directly or through the advertising of various teams in the First and Second Leagues. Joint ventures have been created to provide investment conditions for the construction of a stadium in the center of Sofia, in the Borisova garden …
And “LEVSKI”?
LEVSKI needs no privileges or alms. Our team has demonstrated dignity. Our team and the audience of millions of people have never agreed to be a team from the Ministry of the Interior, the Army, the Post Office, anyone. We follow the honor, devotion and example of the APOSTLE! We ask for justice. On the principles of equality and objectivity. We believe that our favorite club should show the same care, solidarity and support as the others.
Dear Mr. Borissov, in the public space you and your ministers have expressed your desire and ideas for that justice to become a reality. The point is that the moment is already fateful. And within two weeks there is no real solution to the problem, players will now be able to terminate contracts, leave the team and file lawsuits against the football club. Neither the public nor the administration will be able to stop such a cataclysm. There is an urgent need for financial intervention.
In this sense, our proposal, Mr. Prime Minister, is to provide an opportunity for the official advertiser of the Company “7777.bg” to support the club again in this difficult time by transferring the necessary funds. An incentive that will allow the club to generate income during the transfer window.
If this is not feasible, then the only alternative would be for the state to lend directly to the football club through a loan secured by future sales accounts receivable for urgent financial needs, an approach Levski’s supporters do not approve or want. principle, but it would seem like a last resort for financing.
We Levski organized players believe in his good intentions and fairness. We will be judged on cases and results. And they believe in the truth:
“Being Levskar, brother, is a great word, being Levskar, brother, is an honor!”
