“Less bad”: Slavi Trifonov would form a coalition with “Democratic Bulgaria” and “Get up! Get out!” – Elections 2021

He again distanced himself from the main political parties, saying that he viewed “democratic Bulgaria” and “Get up! Get out” as possible coalition partners because he said they were “less bad”.

Trifonov explained in general about his old friendly relations with Boyko Borissov, but defined the behavior of President Rumen Radev as worthy and from his response it was clear that he would support him for a new term.

These were some of the themes of the pre-election event on Saturday (March 20) at night, in which Trifonov with an informal speech, clothes and atmosphere answered for about an hour and a half questions from his fans on television “Seven-Eight “. According to “Alpha Research” data from a survey conducted between February 26 and March 1, “There are people like this” ranks third with 13.3% among those who decided who to vote for (they are just over 37 % of 52.5% who until that moment say they will exercise their right to vote on April 4). Trifonov’s party was followed by the MRF with 12.5% ​​and Democratic Bulgaria with 5.7%. So far, polls show that the coalition around Maya Manolova is on the verge of a four percent barrier.

Slavi Trifonov against (almost) everyone

Slavi Trifonov described “democratic Bulgaria” and “Get up! Get out!” As “less bad” when asked by a young man who introduced himself as Valentin Kotov.

“Throughout my life, I have always wanted to choose between the good and the bad,” Trifonov said, but said that to the extent that this was not possible, consider the union “Democratic Bulgaria” and the coalition “Get up! Get out!” as potential coalition partners because they are “less bad”, depending on the post-electoral realities.

From “Democratic Bulgaria” and “Get up! Get out!” So far, when asked about possible coalitions with “There is such a people” or other smaller parties in the future parliament, they have commented that they would accept the support of those who will support the policies they demand.

The leader of “There are such people” denied that a coalition between his party and GERB, BSP, MRF, VMRO and NFSB was possible. Trifonov called expressed outrage against NFSB leader Valeri Simeonov for his comments to protesting mothers of disabled children, whom he called “a group of apprehensive women speculating with their children.” The attitude of the leader of “There are such people” towards MEP Angel Djambazki (of IMRO) also sounded negative, because at the end of 2019 he was caught driving a drink and because last year he shot at protesters with pirates and water. .

Trifonov with support for President Radev

In response to a question, Trifonov expressed a more positive opinion only on President Rumen Radev, describing his behavior as “very dignified”. Without saying it clearly and unequivocally, it was clear from the answer that he would probably support his candidacy in the next presidential election.

Radev “says what people think, and it is no coincidence that he is the most beloved politician in Bulgaria. I find it strange that those who raised him are now pulling. I mean the BSP … He said a while ago, my decision is clear “.

If in the next parliament the first two parties (according to opinion polls at the beginning of March, these are the GERB and the BSP) fail to form a government, the president can choose to whom to grant the third term, either the third or the third. one of the other parts. Even if this option is not reached, Radev has already announced that he will run for a second term in the upcoming autumn elections and his moves will also be related to seeking broader support (MRF is already openly attacking him, and BSP will decide what to do after the parliamentary elections).

Trifonov for Borisov

A man who introduced himself as Anton Bashev asked Trifonov what his relationship was with current Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, “because at one point he was his friend.” The leader of “There is such a people” confirmed that he had friendly relations with Borissov when he was chief secretary of the Ministry of the Interior (MIA).

According to Trifonov, this happened after Boyko Borisov visited him on the show (it ran for many years on BTV), gave him a dog, broke the bars for his martial arts skills, and generally showed “a different image to the majority of the members of the Ministry of the Interior “. However, according to Trifonov, their relationship became “impossible” after Borisov became mayor of Sofia and prime minister. Trifonov for himself in politics.

In general, in an hour and a half, Slavi Trifonov was not asked specific questions about his political commitments in the event of ruling or participating in power. It was only asked in general how the leader of “There is such a people” will address the problems in the justice and health systems. In these situations, Trifonov ordered to read the electoral program of the political project and explained several times that the lists include people who are professionals in the relevant fields.

In question if he will become prime minister, he recalled that Bulgaria is a parliamentary republic (although according to him this has been forgotten for the last 11 years, referring to the Borissov government) and that the majority party appoints the prime minister and depends on who wins the most votes in the elections.

Trifonov did not comment in detail on policies and actions, and did not answer some of the questions clearly, leaving without a definitive answer or hinting at his position. In others, he cited “wise thoughts” or told stories.

He reiterated his well-known position that he would seek to legitimize the decisions of the referendum that began in 2016 and argued that this was his decision to enter politics officially (“I had no other option”).

Slavi Trifonov also said that if he enters parliament, “One of the first things we will do is change this disgusting electoral law.”, given the limited number of polling stations in countries outside the European Union.

In other responses, the party leader said his positions were pro-NATO and pro-European. He was not asked about relations with Macedonia.

A woman from Varna asked him if he was “ready for dirt”, probably referring to politics, and Slavi Trifonov replied: “Honey, my dear, I have been in such dirt for so many years, I don’t know what I will be surprised by.” According to the leader of “There are people like that”, their participation in politics is the price they pay for working for their causes.

Trifonov for COVID-19

At the beginning of the show, in which the showman and leader of the Varna and Stara Zagora charts called the cameraman to show the informal atmosphere in which Slavi Trifonov will answer questions. According to him, the plot unfolds from the “writers room” in the “Levski G” district in Sofia.

Up to 15 people can gather for private celebrations (eg weddings, baptisms, etc.) and in these situations, no security requirements are mentioned.

A man named Teodor Ivanov, Slavi Trifonov, was asked how he would continue to handle the situation with COVID-19 and how he would deal with the national operational headquarters. The showman valued that “the whole situation with the coronavirus is absurd.” In this context, Trifonov emphasizes the participation of the immunologist Prof. Andrey Chorbanov in “There are such people”.

Chorbanov is an outspoken critic of restrictions on the spread of COVID-19. He is often opposed by members of the coronavirus headquarters, as well as the Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov.

Slavi Trifonov comes into direct conflict with the Minister of Health in Varna, where the two are list leaders (more on the subject, here). In response to a question, the host explained that he likes Varna and Stara Zagora very much and that is why he chose to be a candidate from these cities.

Trifonov for journalists and media

In the first seconds of his show, Slavi Trifonov distanced himself from pre-election debates in television studios and journalists in general.

The leader of “There is such a people” described the participation of other politicians in public electoral debates as “pathetic and humiliating” and therefore did not intend to participate in them. For the showman, “televisions are old-fashioned and looking to make some money.”

However, Slavi Trifonov said that he liked the host of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) program “Panorama”, Boyko Vassilev, after talking about Macedonia and called him to ask for an interview. The journalist had offered Trifonov to participate in a pre-election debate, but the showman and the candidate did not like the option of a non-independent appearance.

“What journalists do is very interesting: there are paid advertisements for a party, and then they participate in debates. You know how it works: whoever pays, sends the music,” Slavi Trifonov told the media and the electoral debate.

“Live connection” – that was the name of the broadcast (one of the most famous songs of the host and the Ku-ku band is “Living Wound”) and it included questions in the live video links and those that were shown on the screen. It was unclear on what principle applicants were chosen and how they got involved and what other questions they selected from the team, as users asked dozens of other questions in the chat on the Facebook page.
