Lerza’s son and his accomplices wanted to cut off the victim’s finger, they stuck an ax in his throat

The son of the famous Katya Lertsa – Kostadin Kostadinov, as well as his defenders Yordan Arbaliev, Stefan Harizanov and Ilian Smilenov, have brutally violated the human rights of Plovdiv resident Kostadin Chaparev, said a reporter. Plovdiv24.bg. This became clear during today’s session of the Plovdiv District Court.

The four are accused of kidnapping, beating and confiscating property belonging to someone other than the victim Chaparev, and for their act the law provides prison sentences of 7 to 15 years.

The crime took place on September 19 of this year, around 1.00 am. The defendant claims that the victim stole a petrol saw from Kostadin Kostadinov’s father and then left it at a pawn shop for a sum of almost BGN 200. So they asked him to return the money.

In the courtroom, however, it became clear that Katya Lertsa’s son and his three comrades were driving Chaparev to the Studenets’ cabin, stark naked in the trunk of a car driven by Smilenov. Then they put the wooden handle of a small ax to his throat, beat him, and covered one of his fingers to tell him how far they would cut it.

Kostadinov’s lawyer, Krassimir Eldarov, asked the court to change the restriction measure to house arrest, as his lawyer took care of his little brother, who is a second-grade student and his mother is in prison in Sliven. In addition, the lawyer attacked the prosecution for considering that the accusation was too exaggerated and could be replaced by “self-government accompanied by a threat”. Lawyers for Yordan Arbaliev, Stefan Harizanov and Ilian Smilenov also demanded house arrest for their clients, claiming that they take care of sick relatives, that they have a permanent address and a job.

However, Judge Evstatieva ruled that there was a real danger that the four would commit another crime and therefore left them in permanent custody.

The decision can be appealed to the Court of Appeal.
