In the 20% of students with symptoms similar to COVID-19 or influenza, as well as infected, the entire school will be closed. So said the Minister of Education, Krassimir Valchev.
Seasonal flu and coronavirus will complicate the situation, which is why this rule was chosen, he added.
If decisions are made to close the school, the youngest children will be last, this will be the algorithm, explained the Minister of Education.
For now, the masks are not provided in class, but in the schoolyard when classes are mixed, Valchev added.
He clarified that when doing outdoor activities, children will not wear masks, but while waiting for their parents after school.
300 are positive samples from students and 293 from teachers. The students and children of the nurseries are 10 times more than the pedagogues, explained the Minister of Education.
This means that students are less likely to become infected or to be asymptomatic, he added.
Will there be devices for everyone in online training?
First, 16,000 devices will be provided for schools to purchase. They will be used for students and teachers in classrooms in an electronic environment, they will be distributed to students who do not have them.
Another 80,000 will be purchased separately and we are expected to have more than 90,000 laptops by spring, Valchev explained.
40,000 children did not have access to online education during the last school year, the number can be the same if we take all schools, explained the minister.
He explained that this is due to the reluctance of the children themselves to attend school, as well as their parents. Valchev added that the benefits are still linked to the presence, but also that the families work.
The Education Minister admitted that the measures against these families were delayed, but also that work is being done to get the children back to class. Valchev explained that even in the summer most of these students did not come to study outside in the schoolyards.
Hot water and soap: is it available in all schools?
Minister Valchev assured that to date there is hot water and soap in all the schools in our country.
300 pots 2,400 schools did not have hot water, today all have, he said and explained that an option such as shortening the attendance of the child with symptoms to the family doctor is being considered, and this should happen only with a phone call.
Areas in red should limit some of the optional activities in schools, the education minister added.
He also addressed the issue of low basic salaries in higher education institutions in our country.
There is an agreement to increase the remuneration, but the condition is to have optimization. Universities have money to help raise basic salaries, young teachers are important, so the starting salary should be increased, Valchev said.
