Bulgarian Kiril Despodov appeared in the match as a reserve in Cagliari’s loss to visiting Lazio 0: 2 in a Serie A second round match. Despodov arrived in the 80th minute in place of Giovanni Simeone.
For the Romans, it was the first game of the season after their meeting with Atalanta was postponed last Sunday.
Lazio took the lead after 4 minutes with a goal from Manuel Lazzari. Last season’s Golden Boot winner, Ciro Imobile, scored the second goal of the game in the 74th minute. Imobile scored 36 goals last season, equaling Gonzalo Higuaín’s achievement with Napoli in 2016.
Newcomer Benevento won 3: 2 as Sampdoria’s guest in another round match. Filippo Inzaghi’s former students turned 0: 2 to win the match. The hosts went ahead with goals from Fabio Quagliarella in the 8th minute and Omar Colli in the 18th minute.
Benevento then triumphed with two goals from Luca Caldirola at 33 and 72 minutes and one from Gaetano Letizia two minutes before the end.
For newcomer Benevento, this was the first game of the season, after his match last weekend against Inter was postponed. Roma host champion Juventus in the derby of the round on Sunday.
