Yesterday, information reached Estonia that Bulgarian President Rumen Radev had been in contact with a person positive for COVID-19 and this forced him to postpone his visit. This follows from a post by Estonian President Kersti Kalulaid on her official Facebook page. This is what she wrote:
The summit of the Three Seas Initiative, which took place yesterday, can be considered a success. We had time to have many working talks with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on site and Estonia handed over the venue of the next summit to Bulgaria.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel the official visit of the Bulgarian head of state, scheduled for today, because yesterday afternoon it turned out that President Radev had maintained positive contact with COVID-19 before arriving in Estonia. Upon arrival of the information in Estonia, all necessary measures were taken and the Bulgarian delegation was isolated at the hotel. That is why the head of state of Bulgaria did not participate in yesterday’s dinner with “Three Seas”.
I spoke by phone this morning with President Radev and we agreed that under these circumstances, canceling the visit was the only correct step.
