“We are fulfilling our agreement, Skopje is not fulfilling it,” Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Krassimir Karakachanov told reporters. Thus, he responded to the comment of the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, that Bulgaria violates art. 2 of the Neighborhood Agreement, reported BTA.

“He noted that Article 2 of the agreement states that Bulgaria will support Macedonia to achieve the membership criteria. We are trying to support them to achieve the criteria, one of which is to resolve bilateral problems with neighbors, but they are clearly not having any wish, “said Karakachanov.

According to him, unfortunately, in Skopje they have underestimated the situation and have relied on Bulgaria to make concessions in the name of good relations.

“This time, however, there is no room to give in and there is no need to give in, because practice shows that the good intentions of Bulgaria are not shared by Skopje,” Karakachanov added.

Karakachanov noted that Bulgaria’s position has been very clear since the agreement was signed.,

it was confirmed by the government’s framework position, which was unanimously approved by the Bulgarian parliament. “Therefore, we cannot move from a position that is a decision of the Bulgarian parliament,” he added.

When asked if the Republic of North Macedonia has a chance to react before November 17, Karakachanov said he was grateful to his German counterparts, who gave them another chance with the seven-day extension. He noted that Sofia can be reached in two hours from Sofia.

We are making an annex to the contract, we mark the specific deadlines as a condition for implementation, we await a written statement, such as a signed decision that they do not have and in the future they will not have territorial or minority claims, accept the real thesis that history, the Language and culture of the population in the Macedonian geographical area until 1944 is part of the Bulgarian culture and history and from now on things are very clear and quickly resolved, ”said Krassimir Karakachanov.

Karakachanov also announced that he was developing a plan to organize a campaign for people in the army.,

who have had the coronavirus to donate blood plasma to those in need. He made such an appeal to the entire Bulgarian society.

“I plan to sign a similar order on Monday, including other measures to help military medical facilities,” Karakachanov said.

The Minister announced that two of the generals infected by COVID-19 have already been discharged from the Military Medical Academy. There are not many military personnel in the hospital, a dozen people and seven civilians, he added.

“We have not considered the option of full quarantine, there is a national operational headquarters that makes those decisions,” Karakachanov commented.

“Private hospitals need to be much more actively involved in the fight against coronavirus and in my opinion it will depend on how the funds are distributed through the Health Insurance Fund in the future,” he said.

President Rumen Radev, Minister of Defense

Krassimir Karakachanov and Admiral Chief of Defense Emil Eftimov participated in the military ritual, a commemorative service of the Assumption of the Archangel, which honored the memory of the fallen Bulgarian soldiers, in front of the Military Mausoleum-Ossuary of the Central Cemetery of Sofia.
