Jill Biden is no stranger to the spotlight. Her husband has been in Washington since they were married in 1977, and she was America’s second lady for eight years.

But now that Joe Biden has won the White House, his 69-year-old wife will have a chance to assume the role of first lady in the 21st century, while retaining her full-time job as a teacher.
“Most American women have work and family lives, but first ladies never had the right to do that,” said Catherine Jellison, a history professor at Ohio State University. He added: “Perhaps the time has come when more Americans are comfortable with a first lady who is not on duty in the White House 24 hours a day.”
Of course, Biden has been a trusted advisor to her 77-year-old husband for years, who defeated incumbent President Donald Trump.
As first lady, she is expected to work in education and resume the unification of forces, a mission to unite military families, which she and Michelle Obama began in 2011.
But she is also a teacher, mother, grandmother and the stone that Biden keeps after the tragedy of almost five decades ago.

In 1972, Joe Biden faced the unthinkable: His young wife and daughter were killed in a car accident and he was left alone to raise his two young children, both injured in the accident.
Jill Jacobs appears, who was born in 1951 and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia. His father rose in banking from teller to president, and his mother was a homemaker.
Jill was in the process of divorcing her first husband when she met Biden, a widower who commuted daily from Delaware to Washington, DC, where he served as a United States Senator.
The couple married in 1977 and she became the “mother” of their children Hunter and Bo. The Biden family has a daughter, Ashley, who was born in 1981.
While raising her family, Jill Biden also received two master’s degrees. He also has a Ph.D. and now teaches at Northern Virginia Municipal College.

Since then, the couple have been through two unsuccessful presidential campaigns, his eight years as vice president, the death of Bo Biden after a battle with cancer, and now a successful campaign in the White House.
“She brought us back together,” Biden said in a video that was shown in August during the Democratic National Congress as he described Jill’s impact on the family with signs of tragedy.
Jill Biden took on the role of second lady in 2009 when her husband became Barack Obama’s vice president, attended high-profile events with first lady Michelle, and developed a comfortable style of public speaking.
During her husband’s third run for the White House, Jill was one of his strongest and most effective MPs. He campaigned tirelessly, crossing states for early voting from Iowa and New Hampshire and battlefields like Florida and Michigan.
She presented her husband as the candidate who best addressed not only moderate Democrats, but also independents and Republicans, who were disappointed in Trump.
In March, she found herself in the role of advocate at an event in Los Angeles, when she dramatically repelled two protesters who threw themselves at her husband on stage.

In her conventional speech from the classroom at Wilmington High School, where she taught English in the 1990s, she attested to her husband’s character, abilities, and heart.
“How can you break a broken family?” She said of Biden’s persistence through adversity, a quality she believes connects him to millions of American families suffering from pandemics, mass layoffs and racial tensions. “In the same way that you make a whole nation,” he added. “With love and understanding, and with small acts of compassion. With courage. With unshakable faith,” he said.
Jill Biden, who fiercely defended her family during her husband’s career, faced attacks against him from Trump and his allies. Now he may be preparing for four years in the White House and a busy schedule to teach and work in the east wing.
“If Biden continues to teach, it will forever change the expectations and constraints of the position,” Kate Andersen Brauer, author of The First Women: The Grace and Power of America’s Modern First Ladies, told AFP.
“I think it can be challenging, balancing the work and the huge commitments of the first lady, but I also think it will broaden our understanding of what the first ladies are capable of,” she said.
Jellison cautioned that Biden could take on those who want a more traditional first lady, but she and Brouwer agreed that the time for change had come.
“Certainly one day we will have the husband of a president, and I don’t think anyone expects him to quit his job,” Brower said.
