Japan’s Ministry of Health announced that a new variant of the coronavirus has been detected, DPA reported. It is different from the options found in the UK and South Africa.
The new version was found in four people who arrived at Tokyo’s Haneda airport on January 2 with a flight from the Brazilian state of Amazonas, BTA reports.
They were tested and then quarantined in an area of the airport. Of the four passengers, a 40-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with respiratory problems, a 30-year-old woman complained of headaches and sore throats, a teenager developed a fever and a fourth passenger, a girl, had no symptoms. There is no evidence yet that the new variant of the virus is more contagious than the others.
In Japan, three cases of the new variant of the coronavirus have also been detected, which is found in the United Kingdom and is believed to be more easily transmitted.
