Japan will temporarily prohibit the entry of citizens of all countries and regions except Japanese and foreigners with permanent residence permits in Japanese territory. This is stated in a government announcement issued today, TASS reported, cited by BTA.

Restrictions are being introduced as a precaution in relation to the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus in several countries, authorities said. The measure will be in effect from December 28 to the end of January 2021.
In addition, mandatory quarantine is being reintroduced for Japanese residents returning after short business trips. And those returning from countries where the new strain was found will be required to submit a negative test for the virus, performed no earlier than three days before arrival.
