The Ivaylovgrad Dam is expected to overflow from its overflow within an hour, the Haskovo regional administration announced shortly before 11:00.
At 8:00 this morning the level of the dam was 120.2 m with an overflow of 121.0 m. Upon reaching the overflow point, the water from the dam is released from the overflows and there is no danger to the population, the state administration explained.
At the same time, starting at 19:00 last night, another dam of the “Arda” waterfall – “Studen Kladenets”, which is the highest one before “Ivaylovgrad”, is released in a controlled manner, and this morning two are opened drain valves.
The administration also reports that the situation in the area after the heavy rains is calm. River levels are falling and the river in Maritsa, near Dimitrovgrad, Harmanli and Svilengrad, is well below alert levels.
