Although the number of daily cases has dropped from about 40,000 in mid-November to just over 20,000 now, the infection has increased in recent days and hundreds of people continue to die every day. The official death toll in Italy so far is about 75,000, the highest in Europe and the fifth in the world, according to Reuters.

Today’s data from the Italian Ministry of Health shows another 364 deaths from coronavirus compared to 462 yesterday. Today, 11,831 newly infected people were reported, compared to 22,211 yesterday.

The ministry clarified that the closure of the ski resorts has been extended at the request of regional leaders and follows the advice of health experts.
