“Interpol” searches for dozens of missing Bulgarians – EU

A total of 15 Bulgarian children are sought with the yellow bulletin of the international police organization Interpol.

The children on the list have disappeared or been abducted when they were young and have not yet come of age. Of these, 6 are girls and 9 are boys.

Traces of the smallest of them are lost in 2019, when he was almost 2 years old. Diyan Atanas Mandov was last seen in his hometown of Sofia and is still wanted today, Monitor writes.

Among the Bulgarian children on the list are still twins Amira and Aliya. Their mother, Dr. Kaneva Abdelbaki, last saw them in 2016; their father took them both when they were 3 years old. According to the mother, her daughters are in Jordan, the homeland of the sisters’ father. She continues her fight to bring her children back to our country, but her efforts have never been successful. The reason why Jordan has not signed the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction and, consequently, national institutions are tied.

Ana Gerginova, 12, disappeared in 2011 when she was 3 years old, is the one who has been missing the longest. The girl is originally from Spain, and the Interpol information does not specify where she disappeared. For 8 years, the traces of 17-year-old Amira Chow, who has Bulgarian and Algerian citizenship, have been lost: her mother is Bulgarian and her father is Algerian. The girl was born in Spain and disappeared in 2012, when she was almost 9 years old. In 2020, two people were declared wanted by the Interpol yellow bulletin.

Kristian Grozdev, 7, was last seen on January 12 of this year. The boy was born in the state of Pennsylvania and has dual citizenship: Bulgarian and American. The boy disappears in Sofia.

The latest Bulgarian child added to the wanted list is 16-year-old Evgenia Lyubenova. Her traces were lost ten days ago, on September 18, 2020 in her hometown of Varna.

This group does not include those who have disappeared as children but who have already come of age. One of them is Dayana Mladenova, whose tracks were lost in 2007, when she was 9 years old. The girl is already a 22-year-old girl, which is still unknown. She was last seen in her hometown of Levski.
