Pirogov has already installed refrigerators to store vaccines, which can maintain a temperature of -70 degrees.

The emergency hospital is one of the places where immunization against coronavirus will begin on December 27, reports BTV.

An organization has already been created: patients will be examined before vaccination. Immunization will take place in an outpatient office and 24-hour care will be provided in the event of a reaction to the vaccine.

750 doctors from the medical institution are among the first to wish to be immunized. About 50 people will be vaccinated in 12 hours, and each of them will need at least 15 minutes, calculated the director of the emergency institute, Prof. Asen Baltov.

Prof.Baltov: There is a hidden incidence of COVID-19, infected people refuse to be tested

Among the first on the list of immunization against COVID-19 in “Pirogov” is the manager of the hospital pharmacy Svetozar Petrov. He says he is ready to be vaccinated as soon as the doses arrive.

“I see people coming here in serious condition. Unfortunately, people are dying, including my family and friends. I don’t want to be vulnerable,” he said.

A backup power supply for the freezer is also provided at Pirogov. It is designed not to compromise the quality of the vaccine in any way. There is also an audible signal that indicates when temperatures drop. The capacity of the freezer is up to 100 thousand doses.

“It is stored for a long time, at -70 degrees. It can be stored for 2 days at 2 to 8 degrees, then for 2 hours, at room temperature,” Petrov said.

According to Professor Asen Baltov, the imposed measures are already paying off. Expect the incidence to decrease even before the vaccination begins.

Dr. Radosveta Filipova revealed that the first Bulgarian can be vaccinated on December 27.

“We want to have a free window in which people can get vaccinated normally. If there is a hidden morbidity and people get sick, it is not right for them to get vaccinated at this stage,” he explained.
