64 high-end cars were arrested in Turkey. All vehicles have Kardzhali registrations, and the Turkish authorities will soon have the names of their owners.
They were requested by a criminal court in Edirne by order of the Directorate for International Legal Cooperation and European Affairs of the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice. The request was made on the basis of the European Convention for Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, writes 24rodopi.com.
The court order was examined in the Kardzhali District Court. The magistrates demanded a reference for the registration of the vehicles and their owners to the Traffic Police of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior.
These are dozens of BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Renault, Fiat, Hyundai, Toyota and Opel cars with Kardzhali license plates.
The Kardzhali court sent all the documents to the Directorate of European Affairs and International Legal Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice, from where they were forwarded to the Turkish judiciary.
Most likely it is an attempt to sell the vehicles and save taxes.
“The practice has been going on for years. Cars are sold in Turkey with Bulgarian license plates. People are used to transport them to Turkey. However, they are not owners, but they received a certain amount for performing the service,” said acquaintances.
The change in the registration number will make the car more expensive due to the higher class.
At the same time, there is a debate in Turkey as to whether the deadline for registering vehicles with foreign registration in our neighbor’s territory should be extended.
According to the Turkish authorities, the largest number of “foreign vehicles” in the country have Bulgarian registration -9736. They are followed by Germany (4,982), Georgia (3,283), France (1,243), Netherlands (1,191), United Kingdom (1,168), Iran (734), Romania (689), Austria (686), Italy (587), Greece (568). ), Russian Federation (563), Belgium (560), Sweden (327), other countries (9008).
