It has long been hypothesized that people in whom the virus crosses the mask barrier and is exposed to small amounts of the virus actually receive a low-dose live vaccine and can trigger an immune response. These small amounts do not pose a risk of virus infection.
This was explained by the immunologist Assoc. Prof. Velizar Shivarov on the air of the “NOVA Week”. This theory dates back to before vaccination and the discovery of the vaccine.
He explained that the global spread of the virus shows that there is no specific population to protect against it.
“As far as I know, in our territory several large projects are being sponsored to study the genetic characteristics and predisposition of the Bulgarian population to viruses. I can say with certainty that there is practically no one who recognizes the virus as strange,” explained the immunologist.
Adjunct Professor Shivarov believes that the different models of states are due to resources and political decisions. He believes that moving to more serious measures is pointless if there is a lot of resistance.
“It is better to follow lighter measures, but to a greater extent, than to impose harsher measures that will cause more resistance and counterattacks,” said the immunologist.
