More than 500 reports of violations were received as of 15:30 on the online platform “You account”.
The most common violations are related to voting machines, which do not work in many places. Due to problems, the Central Election Commission (CEC) stopped this type of voting in the Veliko Tarnovo district. Others involve buying votes. The prosecution said it had filed 33 cases of electoral violations.
One of the leaders of the “Get up! Get out!” Maya Manolova announced that she would offer an extraordinary report on the data on the massive buying of votes in the last three hours of the day of the election.
A new trend in “You count” signals is that they are not allowed. advocates of the fair elections initiative vote in sections of the country and abroad.
“An increasingly common violation both at home and abroad is the refusal of the section commissions to allow our voting advocates to be present during the vote, and sometimes even during the counting of the ballots. They have no right to deny you access to the polls. Every representative of “Democratic Bulgaria” with a document has the right and must be in the electoral college “said “You Count” head of legal team Nadezhda Yordanova.
Another group of violations is related to Failure to place two stamps in the indicated places on the ballot by the section commissions. Lawyer Yordanova called on people who have not yet voted to pay attention and insist that commission members put two stamps on them.
The CEC stopped the voting machine in Veliko Tarnovo
Already at noon, the CEC stopped voting the machine in the Veliko Tarnovo district, commission spokesman Dimitar Dimitrov said. Thus, the elections continue only with ballots.
By law, these elections must have machines in all sectors of the country with more than 300 voters. These are 9390 sections. For the first time in the elections in Bulgaria there are so many devices. For comparison, in the 2019 European elections there were 3,000 cars. Both then and now, Ciela Norma is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of the devices on Election Day.
There was also a sign of problems with automatic voting in DobrichBut the CEC refused to suspend automatic voting there after further scrutiny of the case. The CEC announced that an expert inspection found that Most of the signs about the lack of the “I don’t support anyone” box don’t correspond to reality.. However, irregularities have still been identified, but they do not require a total cessation of voting with technical devices. “In the sections where there were discrepancies, automatic voting was suspended. Each case has already been reviewed and resolved.” explained REC president Tsonka Velkova. DEC also received a complaint alleging that a section with more than 300 voters lacked a voting machine and the signal was sent to the CEC. After an on-site inspection, another sign was found to be unfounded: the suspicion that older people in Odrintsi village were being pressured to vote for a particular party.
The problem in Veliko tarnovo it was established by a voter from “democratic Bulgaria”. He saw an exchange of names and numbers on the ballot and signaled to the District Election Commission, which alerted the CCA. Democratic Bulgaria confirmed that its list had not been ordered in the originally approved manner.
“I do not want to make any reservations on this subject, I hope everything goes well, there are some irregularities, but we will see what it is about“said coalition co-chair Hristo Ivanov.
It was Democratic Bulgaria that insisted on stopping the voting machine in the district, which was later respected by the CEC.
The problem was related to the names of the candidates and their numbers in the preferences: the first three became the last on the list, explained the CEC spokesman, without specifying which political force was in question. According to him, it is most likely a technical error. Leading the vote will not be the name of the candidate, but the number on the ballot, Dimitrov said.
It’s probably human error. A CEC spokesperson explained that all the lists were uploaded by Ciela Norma, supplier of the machines. Otherwise, the data is sent by the district electoral commission. According to Dimitrov, the vote cast before the suspension of automatic voting will not be lost.
“On Election Day, we will hardly find time to hold anyone accountable, but we have a contractual relationship and there is certainly no way around commitments from either party. Then it will be clear exactly what happened, who exactly uploaded them and in this way I hope“he said.
In the area Veliko tarnovo there are 425 polling stations and 313 have voting machines installed. Initially it was announced that voting had been suspended in 10 sections.
In various sections of Sofia the machines temporarily stopped working for various reasons: map locked, time inaccurate, software locked, falling to the ground. After debugging, the machines continued to work.
The BSP also announced that it would point out a problem with the voting machine, but in Plovdiv region. According to them, hours before the start of the vote in many places no devices were delivered. One of them is Sadovo, where, according to Mayor Dimitar Zdravkov, on Saturday night there were machines in only 2 of the 19 sections. According to BSP list leader Manol Genov, one of those delivered in Sopot the machines did not work.
There is automatic voting in 9398 sections of the country.. If a voting machine breaks down, it is not replaced or repaired and voting continues with ballots only. The votes cast so far by machines will be added to the minutes at the end of the electoral day.
A third used the machines
There is not much interest in automatic voting. According to the observations of the presidents of the sectional electoral commissions, around a third prefer the voting machine, which is used for the first time in the elections in our country.
Alpha Research data also shows that about 27 percent of voters used voting machines.
President Rumen Radev, Vice President Iliana Yotova and BSP leader Cornelia Ninova took advantage of it.
The co-president of “Democratic Bulgaria”, Hristo Ivanov, chose the paper newsletter precisely because of the problems with the machines. Most of the other political leaders also voted on paper.
Black pen instead of blue
TO Burgas region In one of the sections, a black pen was delivered with which the ballots were filled in and will be considered void. The omission has already been removed.
“Open your eyes to four. Get out there and vote and call the people around you to vote. It is important that we defend our rights. Today is the day”, named attorney Nadezhda Yordanova.
In the place tibroish.bg An interactive map is available on which, once the election day is over, the results of the protocols received and validated from nearly 12,000 polling stations throughout the country and abroad will begin to be viewed.
