After a four-day lockdown, the first flights landed yesterday, bringing back some of our grieving compatriots from Britain, Nova TV reported.

To hug her grandson on Christmas Eve, Dimitria travels for more than 20 hours. After a canceled flight and losing hope of being home for the holidays, he managed to find a place on one of the extraordinary flights from London. “I come from Scotland. I have been traveling since yesterday, I left at 6 o’clock,” he says.

Hundreds of our compatriots, who arrived all day by plane from the island, managed to hug their relatives yesterday.

However, Christmas at home was in question for everyone until the end. “It was very difficult to find tickets. All flights were canceled until the last minute,” says Michaela.

Before the hugs, the passengers received mandatory antigen tests.

“The organization is very fast. They take 10 to 20 people at a time, then they all get tested and after they get the test result, they actually tell you exactly how long you will be isolated,” says Ivon Tsvetkova.

Christmas Eve also brought good luck to our stranded compatriots, who spent five days trapped in the English city of Dover. Many of them have already managed to board the ferry to France today and continue their journey to Bulgaria.

So in 4-5 days in captivity in the port of Dover, many of us still cannot believe that we are gone and cannot understand what is more valuable in this moment health or freedom. Long live Bulgaria, ”says Maria.

The prematurely resumed flights to and from the UK turned out to be a surprising gift for a man who rushed back to the island. Because someone is waiting for you there. “My family is there and I plan to spend the holidays together,” he said.
