“Bulgaria’s energy sovereignty is in shambles today,” said Bulgaria’s Democratic co-chair Hristo Ivanov, who made a statement from the hot field at the construction site near Kardzhali of the gas interconnector with Greece.
Ivanov drew a parallel between the gas interconnection with Greece, which has been under construction since 2009, and the rapid construction of the Bulgarian part of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
As is known, the construction of the gas connection with Greece is among the priority projects of the EU, strongly supported by the US, as it will reduce the dependence of Bulgaria and the region on Russian gas. The plans are through this connection for our country to receive liquefied gas from various sources. In this sense, the gas pipeline is competitive with the Russian Turkish Stream project, which supplies Russian gas to Turkey, and once the route through Bulgaria (Balkan Stream) is ready, the raw material will arrive in Serbia (as of December 30, this year) and Central Europe.
“It is very interesting to compare the two tubes”, Hristo Ivanov said and explained:“. The oneIt has been under construction for 11 years and has not yet crossed the bottom of the Studen Kladenets dam, although diversification of sources is critically dependent on it., not just on the tracks, and that pipe –Russian flow, which was built with a 24-hour effort, in which Boyko Borissov committed almost all his capital and remained in power at all costs to complete his commitment to Putin and Erdogan. and that, when discovered, Borissov will try to cover the news with the fact that Bulgaria has started receiving Azeri gas and since January 1, energy diversification has been a reality. “
He asked how much Azeri gas will go through the reverse connection and noted that it is up to Bulgaria to have energy sovereignty.
Hristo Ivanov predicts that it will take years to complete the interconnection route with Greece. At the same time, the Bulgarian part of “Turkish Stream” is ready.
“This is another big lie by Boyko Borissov, this man who has become synonymous with lying in Bulgarian politics, juggling all kinds of half-truths and manipulations to cover up the fact thatBulgaria is on its knees before Putin and Erdogan castwhat is happening is in the interest of the Kremlin, not in the interest of Bulgaria. This will be the case as long as we have this government, which because of its corruption and rottenness has long since sold the Bulgarian national interest to the one who is willing to buy it ”, summarized the co-president of Democratic Bulgaria.
