The average cost per child was approximately $ 50,000

Ukrainian police have discovered a “house of horrors” in which the baby trade took place, Russia Today reports. A special unit at an in vitro clinic in Kiev has divided a group that has been selling babies. The “clients” were mostly single men of Chinese descent.

The average cost for a child was about $ 50,000, said Ukraine’s deputy interior minister Anton Gerashchenko.

The room you see in the photo was the last place where the children stayed before being sold as merchandise. 5 more babies were found in other searched apartments in Kiev. It is assumed that they were rescued hours before leaving for China.

Several Ukrainians and two Chinese were arrested during the operation. The in vitro clinic manager, along with his son, is also in custody. They are all accused of human trafficking. The law in Ukraine provides for up to 12 years in prison for such a crime. Gerashchenko added that at least 140 more Chinese citizens are under investigation for the crime.
