Andrey Galabinov entered the history of his Spezia team forever, after scoring the team’s first goal in Serie A.
The team, which reached its first participation in the elite after the Serie B playoffs, debuted with a home game against Sassuolo in the round of 16, which, however, is played at the Dino Manuzzi Stadium due to the activities of auction of the club “Alberto Pico”.
Galabinov led the team’s attack with №9 on his back, and in the 30th minute he drew 1: 1 after an excellent header, taking advantage of a cross from Mateo Ricky.
Earlier, in the 12th minute, Filip Djuricic opened the scoring for the visitors, and shortly after, Sassuolo’s second goal was disallowed due to an ambush following the VAR intervention.
For Galabinov, this is the fourth goal in Serie A after the three he scored with the Genoa team in his only season in the elite in 2017/2018.
However, La Spezia’s debut ended in a defeat after Sassuolo scored three more goals in the second half, scored by Berardi, Defrel and Caputo. Galabinov stayed on the field throughout the game and in the 74th minute he was close to a second goal, but his header hit the crossbar.
