Almost half of the companies that use offices in the capital intend to vacate at least part of the space because they do not need it. This shows a survey by Cushman & Wakefield Forton, conducted from October 1 to 15 in Sofia among entrepreneurs with more than 42,000 employees working in a total of 705,000 square meters of office space.

48% of the companies surveyed, that is, almost half say that they will vacate at least part of the offices because they do not need them. Only 4% of those surveyed need more space because they don’t have enough space and only 3% still don’t know what they will do. The rest do not foresee a change in the leased areas.

The main reason for reviewing rental costs is that too many employees work remotely. 61% of the companies surveyed say that around 30% of all their employees currently work in their offices, 38% say that half of the staff works in the office, and only 1% of the respondents say that more than half of the employees work in person. office.

“Currently, the uncertainty regarding the offices is greater than in March. At that time, everyone thought that the isolation imposed and the measures in general would last two or three months and everything would be as before. Now, in October, as many as 84% of companies surveyed say they don’t know when they will return employees en masse to the office. 15% believe this will happen in the spring of 2021, and only 1% of homeowners say it will do so by the end of this year, “said Cushman & Wakefield managing partner Forton Michaela Lashova.

According to her, shopping malls and commercial buildings in general are getting through the crisis much more easily, and fast-moving goods, drug stores and cheap clothing retailers have even resumed their pre-crisis sales and are opening new outlets.
