Grigor dimitrov achieved one of the most impressive turns of his career, after achieving world success over5 after 6: 7 (5), 6: 4, 6: 4, although he suffered a very strong defeat in the first set, especially mentally nature, path.
The first part of the match turned into a penalty shoot-out, as both served with great confidence and allowed no surprises. Thus, a tiebreak was reached, in which Dimitrov led categorically with 5: 0 and was only 2 points away from leading in the sets. However, Tsitsipas put on a powerful offense, while Dimitrov remained extremely passive, leading to 7 consecutive points in favor of the Greek and a shocking twist in the tiebreaker.
However, he didn’t give up, instead playing on a completely different level. Dimitrov became more aggressive in his attacks, but his defense remained stable as it was until now. Tsitsipas was obviously having a bad time against Grigor’s varied play and this was shown in the game, 5, when Grisho made a breakthrough and at the end of the set did not allow even a chance to return the advance: 6: 4 and a tie in sets.
In the decisive part, the Bulgarian was uncompromising, reaching two advances and, in turn, saved two points of advance to congratulate himself with 6: 3 in the third part and the final success!
One of the most important factors in Grigor’s victory was undoubtedly his strong comeback. Although Tsitsipas registered 3 times as many aces as Haskovo (15-5), Dimitrov showed excellent and deep performances, and his strong play on the opponent’s kickoff allowed him to reach 9 break points and break 3 times. At the same time, Grisho tried to diversify his opening shot and despite inaccuracies and 5 double faults, he allowed Tsitsipas to reach only two break points and did not allow a single advance in the match.
The victory sends Dimitrov to the quarter-finals of the Vienna tournament, where he will face Daniel Evans. The meeting between the two is on Friday at 20:00 Bulgarian time (depending on the program).

5: 4 – A mirror response from the Haskovo team, who went ahead with 40: 0, thanks to their initial shot. A double fault prevented him from finishing the match at 0, but then he corrected his mistake with a direct point.

6: 6 – Match at 30 for Stefanos and tiebreaker in the match.
6: 7 (5) – First, Grigor Dimitrov reached a mini-break, stubbornly pressing Tsitsipas’s backhand on the first two points and taking the lead with 2: 0 after opponent’s errors. Then a shot from the Greek rocket frame gave the native representative a 3-0 lead. Two more points followed with no response from Dimitrov and he took the lead with 5: 0 in the deciding part. Tsitsipas has yet to give up and posted two excellent serves out of 5; 2, and then took advantage of a mistake by Grisho from the right to make his first mini break. At the next point Grisso went to the net and decided to attack a passing shot from Tsitsipas, who was flying, and made a mistake – 5: 4.
Tsitsipas continued his confident move with an excellent 5: 5 parry volley, and with an ace he secured a point to win the set – 5: 6. This was followed by an incredible defense from Tsitsipas, who returned two strong blows to Grisho of backhand then forehand, and at the deciding moment Dimitrov attacked Tsichipas’s backhand again, but sent the ball out – 5: 7 and a sensational turn in the tiebreaker.
SECOND SET
2: 2 – Strong start of service by both tennis players. In game # 3, Grigor Dimitrov drew several times, but never managed to break his opponent. For 2: 2 the Bulgarian showed a varied game and won to 0.
3: 2 (penetration) – Opportunity for Dimitrov at the service of Tsitsipas, after the Greek made 2 unprovoked errors at the start of the game – 0:30. He responded with an ace, but in the next play-off with a technical pass from the backhand, the Bulgarian reached 2 points for a breakthrough. The first attempt was unsuccessful after he sent his backhand into the net in an attack on the Tsitsipas net. However, the second chance was used after he launched an attack on the net and voluntarily ended his action, the first breakthrough in the match.
4: 2 – Boost in the game of Dimitrov, who with very powerful blows took the first two points of the game, including a crush from the main line. After that he double faulted, but with a diagonal forehand he made it to 40:15. The Bulgarian tried a forehand attack from the right to end the game, but sent the ball – 40:30. However, Tsitsipas’ subsequent comeback was weak, the ball hit the court and Dimitrov solidified the advance.
4: 3 – Haskovo made two perfect shots, but even with his opening shots Tsitsipas stopped his temporary failure with a game of 30.
5: 3 – Quick game to 0 for the former world No. 3.
5: 4 – Tsitsipas did not give up and with a series of service bombs “survived” on set.
6: 4 – Unlike the tiebreaker, Dimitrov refused to get into a defensive position and continued to push his opponent across the court. He went ahead with 40: 0 on his pass after excellent shots from the main line and, although he missed his first two chances, he was right in the game and established after a forehand from Tsitsipas’ net.
THIRD SET
0: 1 – A safe start for Tsitsipas, who, despite various inaccuracies, kept the game under control and won it at 30.
eleven – In a dangerous situation 15:15 Dimitrov shone with one of the day’s shots, turning something like a stop volley into an excellent short ball at the diagonal of the net – 30:15. This was followed by a smooth closing of the game for Dimitrov.
1: 2 – Relentless services and rights of Tsitsipas and a game of 15 in his favor.
2: 2 – Heavy duty game for Dimitrov, who met serious resistance from Tsitsipas. However, after 30:30, Grisho was ruthless in his shots from the main line and with the pressure from the right he forced the rival to commit 2 errors in the playoffs.
3: 2 (penetration) – First break point in favor of Dimitrov. At 30:30 Tsitsipas made an unprovoked mistake and gave the native representative a chance. The Greek tennis player chose an attack to the net, which Grigor came very close to neutralizing, but his passing backhand hit the net fillet – 40:40. Dimitrov reached another breaking point after a missed pass shot from Tsitsipas. This time, however, Grigor himself “returned the favor” and sent an easy backhand.
However, at the third chance of a breakthrough, there was no forgiveness and Grigor finally came to victory in the game after a mistake by Stefanos.
4: 2 (penetration) – This time the World Cup №5 immediately tried to reach a rebreak and took the lead with 15:30. With a good kick-off he arrived at 30:30, but followed by a double fault for 30:40 and a break point. With an excellent kickoff to the right, Dimitrov forced his opponent to send the ball into the net and tied – 40:40. On the next play, Dimitrov sent the ball for another chance to break through, but Grisho was back off serve. At 40:40 there was a very difficult play, in which Tsitsipas had the initiative, but Dimitrov came up with a phenomenal pass backhand and an advantage in his favor.
Unfortunately for the Bulgarian, he also sent the ball into the net at the next point and for the fourth time a draw was achieved. A new class performance, this time from a forehand, gave Dimitrov a lead for the third time and this time he was right: confident serve and off the racket from Tsitsipas.
4: 3 – A quick game at 15 for the Greek, but he was already behind with Dimitrov.
5: 3 – Grisho did not lose concentration, while Tsitsipas began to take more risks and made 3 unprovoked errors, allowing Grigor to win at 30.
6: 3 (penetration) – In the next game with excellent defense Dimitrov reached two match points. The first was reflected in a combination of the two diagonals of Tsitsipas (30:40), but in the second he sent a forehand and gave the victory to Dimitrov!
