Grigor Dimitrov will face Gianluca Mager in the first round of the Masters tournament in Rome. This determined the draw drawn up minutes ago for the race. The 25-year-old Italian is currently ranked 80th in the standings, and this will be the first match between him and Dimitrov.
In case of a possible victory, the Bulgarian will face the winner of the match between Yoshihito Nishioka and Miomir Kechmanovich in the second round. In case the Bulgarian gets through the first two rounds, we can see a very interesting clash between him and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Dimitrov is placed below №15 in the scheme and has a chance to accumulate a lot of points for the classification, since last year he was eliminated in the first round.
The draw for the doubles tournament, in which Dimitrov participated together with Dan Evans, was also held today. The two will face a totally Argentine tandem against Diego Schwartzman and Máximo González.
Earlier today, two of the tour’s stars, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev, announced that they would not be participating in the tournament in the Eternal City. The reason is that the two will meet in the final of the US Open tomorrow night.
