Grigor Dimitrov and Stan Wawrinka came close to making themselves felt in their first and only match of the doubles tournament, which is part of the ATP 500 in Vienna, Austria.

Grisho and Stan lost dramatically to doubles masters Rajiv Ram (USA) and John Salisbury (UK) 4-6, 6-3 and 6-10 in the long tiebreaker. Rivals are below №2 and won the Australian Open in January.

In the first set, Dimitrov and Wawrinka made a breakthrough at 4-4. They failed to catch up to 0-40 in the ninth game, reflecting the first two break points, but in the third their opponents realized such a significant break.

There was also only one advance in the second set, but it was in favor of the Bulgarian and the Swiss. Grisso and Stan found out in the fourth game for a 3-1 lead and did not lose the lead in score until the end of the set.

In the decisive and long tiebreaker, Ram and Salisbury took a 3-0 lead. Grigor and Stan cut their rivals’ lead by one point: 3-4. A strong new series followed for the Americans and the British: 7-3. At 9: 4, Ram and Salisbury were already seen as winners, which became a given after three more playoffs: 10-6.

The match was a good warm-up for Dimitrov and Wawrinka before their individual matches. Grisho starts tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. against the Russian Karen Khachanov.
