Bulgarians who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus will be given a “fast track” to enter Greece.
This is clear from the interview of the Greek Minister of Tourism Harris Theocharis for the magazine “Protothema”.
He noted that this is one of the measures that will ensure that Greece is a safe country for tourism.
Greece is among the top five countries preferred by foreign tourists, Harris Theocharis recalled. He noted that this is the main objective of the government: to preserve the positions of the country.
The Minister of Tourism stressed that the vaccinated will no longer need to be analyzed or quarantined, but to present the certificate in digital format by each body, national or other that requests it. Most countries in Europe will follow suit, where mutual recognition between departure and arrival countries is being discussed, Harris Theocharis said. There will be expanded border control tools for the unvaccinated.
However, the Greek Tourism Minister acknowledged that at this stage there is still an open debate at the level of the European Union on how vaccination certificates will be shared among member states.
According to FACTS, Bulgarians who have caravans in Greece have already been warned that from 2021 they must have a document that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19, which is approved by the EU.
Otherwise, Bulgarians will have to undergo a test or quarantine upon entering Greece.
“I believe that having rapid, cheap and rapid tests, combined with the vaccination of a significant percentage of the population, the tools that our country will have for border control will be much more extensive and secure.” Harris Theocharis said.
Diplomatic sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FACTS that the idea of facilitating the access of those vaccinated to the coronavirus to their international trips was being discussed.
Only the vaccine is an opportunity to control the pandemic.
Bulgaria is currently in the red zone of countries that are severely affected by COVID-19.
Bulgarians are subject to strict measures when traveling to European countries.
