Most countries have already announced what steps will be taken. I don’t think they are different in Bulgaria. There is great interest in the 60/40 measure: over 23,000 workers will be insured for the one-week application. The granting of a BGN 1,500 credit with a grace period is already working, the deputy prime minister said.
New measures are being taken in parallel. Tomorrow a measure will be announced for parents who are on leave without pay and care for their children. The state is guilty here of closing schools and kindergartens. We will also target small businesses: it grants up to 1/4 of the company’s annual turnover. I hope there will be a public discussion on the subject on Monday. Our goal is to have this measure available by the end of the month, Donchev announced.
When money is given, it is wrong to give it to everyone. The problem here is that money can go to someone who doesn’t need it, and those who need it may not get it. The key question here is targeting: how money can go to those who need it most. We must be responsible for spending the state’s money, he added.
At the moment, even the greatest experts do not know what will happen, because it is not known how long the crisis will last. These are extremely fine-tuned chains of trust that support the economy. If there are breakdowns of entire categories of consumption, there may be a deeper crisis, the deputy prime minister said.
He assured that the billions of sovereign debt that will be taken out of the emergency will be spent transparently.
As a society, we will deal with the coronavirus crisis, Donchev emphasized.
According to him, in the case of a Bulgarian Development Bank loan of BGN 75 million to a collection company, the prime minister demanded the resignation of the entire bank administration, because the actions of the bank administration led to the confidence erosion.
