Germany is introducing measures for those arriving from 3 districts of Bulgaria, according to the Foreign Ministry. The Berlin authorities inform the Bulgarians that as part of the prevention against the coronavirus as of Saturday, October 24, 2020, the country is introducing measures against those arriving from Sofia, Razgrad and Sliven.
As of today, the three districts have been added to the Robert Koch Institute’s “List of Risk Areas”, which already includes Blagoevgrad and Targovishte.
For all those arriving in Germany and have been in a ‘risk zone’ for the past 14 days, a mandatory coronavirus testing requirement applies. It can also be manufactured outside of Germany, but within 48 hours before entering German territory. Only the presence of a negative test is grounds for exemption from the 14-day home quarantine.
The quarantine does not apply to passengers in transit through a “risk zone”.

The Foreign Ministry recalls that each federal state in Germany applies the quarantine rule in a way according to the local peculiarities of the spread of the coronavirus. In this sense, citizens are advised to check in advance the specific requirements in force for the respective province to which they travel.
In addition, by the end of the year, Germany will allow foreigners whose passports and identity cards have expired to leave the country when the state that issued the document has announced that it is extending the period of validity. Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the spring, Germany announced that it accepted the proposal to recognize as valid, expired after March 13, 2020, the Bulgarian personal documents with which our compatriots can leave the country on their way home. This deadline expires on December 31, 2020, after which Bulgarian citizens with expired personal documents will not be able to cross the German state border.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalls that at the beginning of October, in relation to the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic, Germany announced that it would once extend the deadline for the use of expired personal documents of foreigners, including Bulgarian citizens, on the country’s territory. until the end of 2020. ends (residence extension). The one-time extension has the main objective of avoiding problems with the stay and residence of foreigners who are already in the territory of the Federal Republic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs adds that the three Bulgarian consulates in Germany, in our embassy in Berlin, as well as in our general consulates in Frankfurt and Munich, accept documents for the renewal of expired Bulgarian passports and identification cards.
Bulgarian citizens who intend to leave Germany on an expired plane before December 31, 2020 are advised to inform themselves in advance about the airline’s policy on this issue, as they may not be addressed.
