Researchers from two centers in Berlin and Bonn have concluded that gout is the most likely and virtually the only way to contract a coronavirus. This is reported by the RTL Today portal.
Hendrick Strek, a virologist at the University Hospital of Berlin, and Christian Drosten, director of the Institute for Virology and HIV Research at the University of Bonn, discovered that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is extremely susceptible to air drying, making it the only way to get infected is by contacting the droplets with the virus carrier, Focus reports.
The group led by Strek investigated all cases of coronavirus infection in the city of Heinsberg, with more than 1.4 thousand cases reported. As a result, infections have always been the result of close contact between people for a long time. And in tampons taken from different surfaces in public places, from door handles, phones, or toilets, there was no trace of a “live” coronavirus. According to Shrek, this suggests that getting infected by touching contaminated surfaces is highly unlikely.
“To become infected with the virus, it is necessary for the wearer to cough into his hand and touch the handle with that hand, then the other person immediately grabs the handle and then touches his face with it,” says the scientist.
