“After yesterday’s excesses, we will not resign, because if that happens, it would mean that any government can be overthrown from the criminal contingent. For us, this debate is over. From now on, we will start a debate to convene a Grand National Assembly.” . . This was stated by the GERB deputy, Toma Bikov, in a statement on behalf of his parliamentary group after the “Great Popular Uprising” held on Wednesday, which caused excesses.
The clashes between the police and the protesters were the main topic at the beginning of the plenary session on Thursday.
The BSP defended the protesters
The parliamentary group BSP did not register at the beginning of the session of the National Assembly. The reason: the deputies believe that “this parliament does not make any sense, because there is no political logic.” The motives of the left were pointed out by MP Alexander Simov.
According to him, yesterday’s protest showed the impotence of the government. Instead of a helping hand, the protesters received words like “lumpens and a flock” and it was these words that gave rise to the violence of the protests. “These are the words that led us to the point that only cheers protect you from popular love.”Simov said. “This power rests on police shields”, added.
“I cannot accept that the actions of 100 lumpens are attributed to the whole protest”Said Simov about clashes between police and protesters last night. His speech was interrupted due to the shouts of legislators from the ruling coalition.
“You cannot put the police as a border between you and the people. If it isn’t, there is no one to save you from the love of the people.”said the socialist.
“Get rid of this torment, resignation,” concluded Alexander Simov.
The statement from the left was met with protest by the GERB deputies, who called the banks as a sign of disagreement.
GERB supported the police
The Speaker of Parliament, Tsveta Karayancheva, called for order in the room. However, the BSP asked Prime Minister Boyko Borissov to come to parliament to explain the escalation of protests yesterday. The prime minister will be notified, Karayancheva said.
Instead, GERB group vice president Krassimir Tsipov suggested that Interior Minister Hristo Terziiski go to parliament today to provide information on police actions and the full picture of yesterday’s protests in the capital.
A statement on behalf of GERB followed. Deputy Toma Bikov said last night’s protest confirmed the facts that the cabinet should not resign. GERB supports the actions of the police, he added.
According to Bikov, the political responsibility for last night’s excesses and vandalism rests with President Rumen Radev, and technical responsibility rests with the official organizers of the “Poison Trio” protest:
“One of the organizers of the protest called for the angels to come. All the time President Radev called for the radicalization of the protest. Yesterday this radicalization happened. We all saw the face of this radicalization in these paid football agitators, consisting of in representatives of the criminal contingent and who attacked not only the parliament building but also the police who were trying to monitor the agenda. ” Bikov said.
“We know who is behind the propaganda. A legally recorded conversation came out, it says that he can move people from one place to another. These were these people. The man is called Vasil Bozhkov.”added.
Bikov called on the BSP to abide by the rules of parliamentarism: “To reassure all of our members and supporters and return politics to its normal form.”
Even today, the police presence in front of parliament has increased after yesterday’s siege, and cleaners continued to clean up trash after last night’s actions in front of the building in the triangle of power.
The Patriots demanded a new roundtable
The partners of the GERB government – “United Patriots”, supported the actions of the Ministry of the Interior and announced that the protest has become an instrument to take power.
“If we allow this war to continue both in the institutions and in the streets, then representative power makes no sense.” said IMRO MP Iskren Veselinov.
He called on all political forces for a normal political dialogue: “If necessary, a new round table.”
