The GERB organization in Montana boasted of a new road junction on social media, but with images of a Chinese highway.
The post sparked a wave of comments on Facebook. The photo was later downloaded.
With the taking of a high-speed highway with several detours and cloverleaf from GERB-Montana, they wrote on their Facebook profile: “The new highway junction near Mezdra.”
However, the road looks like this and the repairs have not started yet:
The same shot is on a popular science Instagram profile, but is described as a Chinese highway. The post is from the end of last year.
The oldest version of the photo we found is from 2008, published by the Chinese news agency Xinhua. GERB explained that a mistake had been made and the publication had been downloaded.
The party’s press center also explained that the post was made by his young colleague, who was wrong.
A 20-year-old boy recently kept a profile for GERB-Montana, but the mistake became a hit on social media.
The road junction near Mezdra is part of the modernization of the Botevgrad-Mezdra route. The entire project is worth more than BGN 400 million and should be completed in 2022.
