In a statement to the media, the municipal GERB party organization in Bansko asked Georgi Ikonomov, who joined Tsvetan Tsvetanov’s new political project, to immediately resign as municipal councilor.
Two weeks ago, Georgi Ikonomov, who is currently a GERB city councilor and was previously mayor of Bansko for two terms, asked to leave the party organization in the municipality. This is the main reason why the local structure asks him to resign as municipal councilor, BNR reported.
Georgi Ikonomov learned of the statement from former members of his party through the media.
So far, no GERB party group has formed in the Bansko municipal council, Ikonomov surprisingly announced. He will announce his decision to leave the municipal council in the next session at the end of the month, BNR added.
