Very few people are lucky enough to drive during a @ F1 team every year. I’m about to get a chance to drive for two.
Incredibly grateful to @WilliamsCarreras Y @ MercedesAMGF1 for this opportunity.
Thank you all 🙏 pic.twitter.com/x2ZGMWOX8A

Russell has been part of the Mercedes youth talent program since 2017, when he won the GP3 title. He has been a Williams driver since 2019. Brackley’s team agreed with Grove’s team to release him for the second start in Bahrain, after it became clear that Hamilton will not drive.
“First of all, I want to thank our loyal partners Williams for their cooperation and for making it possible for George to join Mercedes this weekend,” said Toto Wolf.
“George’s task of adapting to the W11 will not be easy, but he is ready to race, he knows the 2020 tires well and how they handle today’s cars. He’s showing remarkable form this year with Williams. I am optimistic that he will do well with Walter. [Ботас]. “
Wolff noted that for the first time a driver from Mercedes junior program will drive for the team in Formula 1. Plans for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be announced after Sahir’s second race.
“First of all, I want to thank everyone at Williams for giving me this opportunity,” Russell himself said.
“I will use a different team this weekend, but I am a Williams driver and will support my team. At the same time, I have an incredible opportunity for the best grid team. Obviously, no one can replace Lewis, but I will do my best in his absence, I wish him a speedy recovery.
Aitken, 25, is Williams’ F1 reserve driver. He drove the team car in practice earlier this season and competed in Formula 2. He said he was in seventh heaven with happiness for the opportunity to drive in the Grand Prix.
No one can replace this guy, but I’ll give my all for the team in his absence from the moment I get in the car.
Get well soon Lewis 🙏 pic.twitter.com/2fKTmbmaU0
