Arms dealer Emilian Gebrev was poisoned with the organophosphate compound diethylphosphonate, also known as landfills, in 2015, the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office said, citing an expert report from the Finnish Verifin Chemical Weapons Convention Verification Institute.
The laboratory is certified by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The Bulgarian prosecutor’s office asked him for help, according to the state prosecutor’s office. Thus, they refuted Gebrev, who said a few days ago that such help was not requested.
The deposits act on the nervous system and paralyze it. The most deadly substance is taken by mouth. Initially, there were suspicions that the poison was in the arugula that Gebrev ate. Then it became clear that the substance was on the handle of his car. “Landfills are not very transdermal (through the skin – note ed.). In their statement, the prosecution clarified that Gebrev was not poisoned with a newcomer. He himself expressed such doubts in 2018, when the assassination attempt against Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia took place. Shortly after opposition leader Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a newcomer, Gebrev again found similarities between the cases.
Like Navalny, he fell into a coma, but came back to life. Along with Gebrev, his son Hristo and Valentin Tahchiev, close to the arms businessman, were also poisoned. After a lengthy investigation, the prosecution indicted three GRU agents in absentia: Georgi Gorshkov, Sergei Pavlov and Sergei Fedotov. They entered Bulgaria on several flights to Sofia airport on February 15, 2015. They used false identities. Gorshkov introduced himself as Egor Gordienko, Pavlov as Sergei Lyutenko, and Fedorov as Denis Sergeev. The three were not found and are wanted.
Due to his absence, the prosecution was arrested, but did not terminate the process. Therefore, it can be resumed after detection.
