Last night there was a gathering of people in Vitosha, BNR reported. Sofia police have carried out massive inspections of drivers heading up the mountain. Several people were fined and had their driver’s licenses confiscated.
The inspections began after a signal for a gathering of people in the “Kopitoto” area who wanted to see the Christmas fireworks. Teams from the Ministry of the Interior were dispatched to the scene to control traffic in the area. A total of 56 cars were reviewed. It has been established that there are no drivers who have consumed alcohol. At the same time, the driver’s licenses of three people were confiscated for non-payment of fines.
An infringement note has been drawn up for a driver. The other four received electronic receipts for violations committed by them some time ago. Inspections are part of the Interior Ministry’s job on holiday traffic control. Inspector Lachezar Bliznakov of the Traffic Police:
“Aggressive drivers will also be monitored. Here we appeal to citizens to flag the emergence of such drivers. Our position of zero tolerance for such aggressive drivers with risky behavior on the road remains strong.”
The Interior Ministry explained that the inspections will continue today.
