In Gabrovo they welcomed 2021 a day before the whole world. Tonight, with a lavish concert in the square, the locals congratulated each other on the New Year. The residents of Gabrovo once again show their inherent sense of humor, announcing that today the executive’s fees are lower.

December 31 was reserved for the people of Sofia and January 1 for the Vienna Philharmonic. That is why the people of Gabrovo chose to send the old one and celebrate the New Year on December 30. This is how the local administration explains its decision to hold an open-air concert the day before.
“We are very pragmatic. It is cheaper to do it on the 30th. We are attracting more interest. The inhabitants of Gabrovo are traditionalists and on the 31st they are at home. Now this square brings together many young people,” said Elena Vlaeva from the municipality of Gabrovo.
The concert in Gabrovo is set against the backdrop of restrictive measures due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, most people do not approve of the idea of a celebration. “I don’t see much sense. It contradicts the other measures and I don’t approve of them,” said one woman.
However, there were also supporters of the idea. “For” the New Year’s mood is the star of the night – the singer Miro. “I am so grateful to the Municipality that they decided to send a concert in 2020, a year that not everyone likes, but there was something good in it,” said the artist.

Despite the restrictions and prohibitions of gathering many people in one place, the square was filled with about 4,000 people. Some of them were without masks. Police and municipal guards monitored the use of protective gear, and the municipality provided those without masks.
