The ingenious fashion designer was 98 years old.
French fashion designer Pierre Cardin died at the age of 98. The sad news was reported by his family to AFP. Carden died in a hospital in Neuilly.

The designer was born in Italy in 1922, but emigrated to France as a child. In 1946 he was hired as a tailor by Christian Dior, who had recently opened his own fashion house. 4 years later, in 1950, he founded his own fashion house. In his models he relies on abstract design. One of the first is to offer unisex fashion. He is the creator of pret-a-porter.

The legendary designer made a name for himself in fashion history after launching the first men’s collection called “Cylindre” in 1960, presented by 250 French students. At the age of 52, Carden became the first fashion designer to appear on the cover of Time magazine.
