The French drainage will save the Trakia highway from the “waves” and there is no need for ditches. In addition, the 12-kilometer stretch under repair drains naturally. This is stated in the official position of the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) on the occasion of the statements about the repair of a lane by the Road Safety Institute.
A day ago, the institute announced that the repair of the 12-kilometer stretch between the “Belozem” and “Orizovo” road junction, between 155 and 168 km from “Trakia”, was done well, except for “minor observations” in the drainage at the beginning of the section. . According to road experts, a ditch had to be made. Its lack could cause water retention on the road, which would cause hydroplaning, according to the Institute of Road Safety.
Unsurprisingly, the quality of the repairs on one lane, which is currently continuing on the other towards Sofia, prompted numerous comments on social media. People are concerned that the repairs have not been carried out properly and eventually the “waves” will reappear due to the lack of a drainage system in the repaired area and a ditch along the road to ensure drainage.
RIA does not deny these facts, but promises to do a French drain, and believes that it is not necessary through the canal, because the canvas has a natural slope. In the 12-kilometer repaired section in the direction of Burgas, “all the necessary measures are foreseen for draining the road,” the highway agency said.
The pavement between km 156 and 168 of the Trakia highway has a unidirectional slope towards the banquet and the drainage is solved by the natural transverse slope. In this way, the road for the construction of the section of Trakia Highway more than 20 years ago years and there has never been a ditch. That is not necessary now, since building French drain behind the railing. The goal is to prevent the large banquet from getting too wet. The construction of a linear drainage throughout the section will guarantee the drainage and drainage of the waters outside the area of the body of the road “, it says in the RIA message.
At the moment, the land masses have been overflowed by last week’s rains and are waiting for them to dry out to begin excavation work to complete the drainage and fill with drainage material, clarifies the highway agency.
“According to construction practices, with a steep one-sided cross slope and a banquet width greater than 3 m, as there is in this stretch, it is not necessary to build a ditch, but to regularly align the banquet and blow off the drainage. As an additional measure of drainage and higher than the banquet, ”says RIA.
There is no information in the press release about the guarantee provided by the state company Avtomagistrali, which is carrying out the repairs. The funds for the repair of the site are comparable to the money given for its construction some 20 years ago.
Repair works on the renovated 12-kilometer lane in Burgas began in early October and ended on November 5. The stretch has new asphalt pavement, improved drainage, new horizontal markings, road signs and containment systems, RIA announced upon completion.
The Highway Agency assigned the repair of the “Autopistas” section without bidding or competition, but on the basis of the highway maintenance contract concluded under the Public Procurement Law. For the 12 km, the state company received BGN 24 million from RIA.
The highway agency has plans to gradually repair the folds about 52 km on the Trakia highway between Chirpan and Stara Zagora.
Work is now under way on the site built between 1995 and 2000, and will then be renewed for commissioning in 2007.
RIA did not publicly present a plan of what will be done, how and when it will happen and how much it will cost. In the absence of information and reporting to the public, as expected, comments flooded social networks. Now RIA is trying to refute them.
