Terminal 1 of the airport was evacuated
Frankfurt international airport was closed tonight for three and a half hours due to suspicions of a terrorist threat, the Foreign Ministry announced for “24 hours”.
At 5:16 pm, a Slovenian citizen entered Terminal 1 without a mask and, after being reprimanded, shouted “Allah Akbar”.
After a short chase, he was arrested. An explosives team searched his luggage but found nothing dangerous.
Meanwhile, the police have received a signal that an armed man has been seen in Terminal 1. The airport and the train station were evacuated and cordoned off, and after no one was found, the airport opened at 8:30 pm local time. However, all of this caused serious confusion in the flight schedule.
Bulgarian citizens traveling tomorrow from Frankfurt International Airport can travel there safely, and those at the airport can follow the instructions of their airlines.
Earlier, several media outlets reported that German police had shot a man at Frankfurt International Airport after “reports of a bomb threat.”
Due to the ongoing police operation at Frankfurt Airport, parts of Terminal 1, the regional train station and the transition to the station are currently closed. Passengers are invited to follow the instructions of security personnel, said in a message at the Frankfurt airport on Twitter.
Therefore, passengers are invited to check the flight status in advance on the airline’s website. Federal police are investigating the incident, the Frankfurt airport said.
