Founder of “Yes, Bulgaria” left the party and apologized to the friends he shook.
In the end, it turned out that there are hardly any current issues on which to support our party’s orders, Doncho Angelov wrote on Facebook.
Here is the full statement:
Four years ago I was a small, very insignificant and independent part of the founders of “Yes, Bulgaria”. I was proud of that, and I will continue to be proud of it, because then I believed that a true right-wing programmatic party was needed to take a firm stand in the fight against corruption.
Today I’m leaving the party. Here I will state the reasons for this. For friends, then I tricked into becoming members with me. For those who are interested in the reasons. For me, above all: not to make such a mistake for the rest of my life.
To the friends and acquaintances I campaigned for: I’m sorry. I think I owe an explanation to everyone around me, whom I fervently convinced, at least in the first year of my membership, that “Yes, Bulgaria” is a true right-wing party that will do a lot for our future and the future of our children.
I owe an explanation, and maybe an apology, because today I will tell you that I realize I lied to you. My little consolation is that I lied to you, driven by the best feelings, and also more frankly, lying to myself.
Almost immediately after the creation of “Yes, Bulgaria: and for the next several years, I was in constant conflict (in public, in person, on forums, on Messenger) with friends, colleagues and like-minded people, sometimes with ideological opponents (“green”, most of the time) who tried to convince me that the problem was with me, that “Yes, Bulgaria” is actually the right wing formation that deserves my trust.
Some greener opponents, whom I do and will recognize as political enemies, as they persuaded and blocked me a bit even from our coalition page (but only for a short time, thanks to other friends). Well, now you can block me in peace. Freedom of speech on the party pages is unacceptable – there should only be flowers and roses, and unicorns running across the clear party sky and rainbows fluttering (let’s not forget: rainbows are especially important to certain socialist currents in the party !).
I define myself as a right-wing libertarian. This is probably the reason for this constant conflict with my former party members, because my views and the party line were so far apart that I couldn’t wait to criticize harshly (and publicly) our official positions. Of course, the reason for my criticism was that the party follows the political line of the left, that is, it officially supports more public spending (CI), as well as more unemployment and crime (emigrants).
Another point of conflict was the indirect work of the party for the interests of the BSP. All, of course, in the name of a future parliament with the possible participation in it of a dozen of our deputies. In this name, our coalition was and remains ready to put the BSP at the head of state. Although I had similar thoughts at the beginning of the pandemic. But I also saw the behavior of the BSP during the crisis, and today I think again that the lesser evil for our government is a “no BSP” government, no matter what it looks like.
In general, it turned out that there are hardly any current issues on which to support the orders of our party. The fight for judicial reform has long been only on the paper goals of our party. On paper, of course, it is still there, but the reality is quite different. Actually, we are “modern”, “liberal”, getting closer to what DEOS was. At least that’s how I see things today. Conversations with friends under one of my latest Facebook statuses, as well as a personal conversation with a friend from the party, led to my final decision. In the end, the friend was right: it was better not to be a member of the party after publicly “masking” it. It’s not worthy, somehow!
So I want to apologize to all my friends and acquaintances who were disappointed in my enthusiasm then and today (as well as me) are disappointed. If it is easier for you, I have also cruelly deceived myself and lied to myself. And nobody is to blame. I’m just me.
That’s it, I can’t write “why I do it” anymore. Last night he followed my request to leave the party. He was immediately polite and received electronically (thanks for that, really!). Since 15.12. my membership will be canceled.
From now on, I will go back to being nonpartisan. Maybe forever. I don’t think you can trust other founders to set party rates and party deals without my input. Nor do I think that he ever wanted to participate in direct and active political activity. Which automatically means that I will trust others to have party programs that are close to my political views. Because I always vote in all elections.
I hope to be close to friends who will follow the “Yes, Bulgaria” path. I hope that there is sobriety in the party’s positions and that it gets rid of the left in it: both within (the “modern liberals” of the left) and without (the “Green Movement”, this poisonous coalition partner).
But this hope is rather my phantasmagoria, because make no mistake: in Bulgaria the main electorate is from the left and the right, and even less the government from the right, they have no chance. GERB is not right wing either, make no mistake! They are simply a more acceptable option than Putin’s DS-KGB-BSP.
It is very clear to me that the majority of the Bulgarian electorate is from the left. And as such, no truly right-wing party will soon be in power.
It is clear to me that this is probably why all parties were greased, including GERB and “Yes, Bulgaria”. Because if the party doesn’t lead, it won’t get enough votes in the next elections.
It is also clear that this probably makes me a regular MP without representation. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. Since Bulgaria continues to advance (albeit slowly, albeit to the left).
When the elections come, I will again have the opportunity to decide who to vote for, based on my experience with the respective formation, as well as on their political programs. I hope this assessment is more sober when it does not have the moral burden of a party member. I do not hide that the desire to vomit, caused by some spokesmen for “Yes, Bulgaria”, and the presence of the “greens” in “Democratic Bulgaria” will be a serious incentive to find another party to vote for. But “democratic Bulgaria” may remain the least evil. We will see. I will definitely write.
Excluding election times, I also expect to be much less politically engaged the rest of the time. Although there will always be ridicule and ridicule of creeping socialism.
