Former Rumen Radev adviser: The reason for my resignation is the celebration with Cornelia Ninova

“The specific reason for my resignation is a celebration in Borovets on the occasion of the re-election of Cornelia Ninova as leader of the BSP.” This is what former head of President Rumen Radev’s office, Kaloyan Metodiev, told bTV.

On September 21, Metodiev wrote on his Facebook account that he was leaving the presidency due to “differences in political evaluations, methods and objectives.” A little later, Rumen Radev’s press office sent a message to the media that the head of state had released his chief of staff.

Metodiev said that that same day Radev had called him into his office and told him that “we can’t go on like this anymore” on the occasion of the Ninova celebration, which Metodiev attended.

We had a conversation in the morning with the president, who he told me we couldn’t go on like this, and then I resigned. And in order not to doubt myself, I posted my message on Facebook. Obviously I have affected Radev’s ego. Ninova herself invited me to the party, I have known her for a long time. I am an adult and I am responsible for my actions, I have not killed anyone. I did not tell Radev that I would attend the celebration.“Metodiev explained.

When asked if there was a conflict between the BSP leader and the head of state, he said he could not comment. On the photo of the president at a table in a Pravets hotel with Georgi Gergov of the BSP, one of Ninova’s enemies in the party, Radev’s former chief of staff said: “Everyone decides with whom and where to go and what positions to take. borrow … If I have to put it with a metaphor – between Pravets and Borovets I have definitely chosen Borovets ”.

Kaloyan Metodiev clarified that he had many differences with the president – the changes in the Constitution that the head of state wanted to make without the parties, the personnel policy – Metodiev wanted more young people in the team, the lack of sufficient public relations. He also cited as an example today’s presidential speech, announcing that he was partially vetoing changes to the Electoral Code.

“You cannot make appeals all the time and above all. The president’s speech must be unusual, have an echo and have a result,” said the former head of the state office.

Metodiev said he supported the protest by demanding the resignation of the government and the chief prosecutor, but said it was no longer entirely authentic.
