Former chief of staff of President Metodiev: our separation was for political reasons

He didn’t know where he was going. I didn’t hesitate for a moment when Radev invited me last August. These are rare opportunities in life. The experience is invaluable, both internationally and administratively. He had not entered a state institution before. So, putting aside the outcome of the whole situation, I appreciate it as a useful experience. This was stated to Nova TV by the former head of the office of President Rumen Radev Kaloyan Metodiev.

I believe that what I have done within the institution has a final result and is visible. I grew up in the army, I know them. But I haven’t really been in a working environment with them. Now he was, but obviously we have a discrepancy in the style of work, in the goals. But this is quite normal, because I am a politically oriented person, this is my job. Although they still come from another system, for them politics is something unknown, something new, he said.

I don’t think he had such a conversation, it was not a topic, Metodiev responded to a question about whether the president had a problem with his political leanings. I suppose he reviewed my political leanings before inviting me to office, added Rumen Radev’s former chief of staff.

My point is that this was a resignation. Our separation was for political reasons. There were disagreements about the general policy of the institution, Metodiev said.

It was not a family reunion. I have already said that I am an adult and I make my own decisions, especially when I am sure that something is right. I do not doubt my actions, he explained on the occasion of his presence in Borovets at the celebration of Cornelia Ninova for her re-election as leader of the BSP.

I have seen Desislava Radeva several times. I have had no personal contacts or meetings. I don’t think she has the reins of the presidential institution. It is not my job in families who does what. We are not close, we are not friends, I have no idea and it is not my job, Metodiev said.

No such conversation has taken place, nor do I have such intentions, he said when asked if he would become a minister in Cornelia Ninova’s cabinet if the BSP won the election.

Let the elections pass first and then we will see who will come to the table with what results. Ninova has the qualities, the opportunities and the potential to do it. She is the only political leader who meets several conditions: she is financially prepared, she has administrative experience, she has character and will, she has demonstrated the political experience she has acquired in recent years, she is not commercial, she speaks English and French. There are some disadvantages, of course, in terms of personnel policy, which we see, there are some problems related to communication, Metodiev said.

The resolution adopted by the EP was good for Borissov and bad for Bulgaria. It was a kind of bloodshed. I am referring to Yoncheva, who was the main spokesperson for the adoption of this resolution, under the guise of fighting corruption, plus Radan Kanev, extremely dangerous and harmful to Bulgarian productions, he added.
