Following the critical resolution of the European Parliament, which supports the protests and the rule of law in Bulgaria and calls for the ratification of the Istanbul Convention, the narrow leadership of the BSP will demand from the party’s MEPs a report on the work carried out and a plan for each month.
The initiative belongs to Cornelia Ninova, and the measure, according to the socialists, is directed against former BSP leader Sergei Stanishev and journalist Elena Yoncheva, two of the five BSP MEPs.
Stanishev is one of Ninova’s critics and was removed from the party’s broad leadership, while Yoncheva, who was close to the leader, accused her of inaction in the face of corruption in Bulgaria and did not sign any of the signs she prepared, including. and for the house in Barcelona.
Due to the request for ratification of the Istanbul Convention in a few days, the BSP is justified by the Brussels resolution, one of whose initiators is Yoncheva.
According to a statement from the BSP press center, a new task for the party’s new Executive Bureau is to introduce rules for the work of the BSP group in the European Parliament. From now on, MEPs elected by the Socialist Party must attend the Executive Bureau meeting every first Tuesday of the month. They must present a report of the work carried out in the last month and a work plan to be approved and agreed with the management – texts of resolutions, planned projects, events (conferences, seminars, trainings), initiatives, activities, important votes, links with other groups and organizations.
“The policy to be pursued must be in line with the national policy of the BSP and be closely coordinated and approved by the governing bodies of the party,” the statement said.
