Flood on the island of Crete – EU

Torrential rains have caused major flooding on the Greek island of Crete, Euronews reported.

The disaster damaged roads, dragged dozens of cars into the sea and left hundreds of houses underwater.

So far there is no information about the injured.

A total of 150 people have died or disappeared in Guatemala during the Eta storm

However, local authorities said the island’s road infrastructure had suffered extensive damage.

The most severely affected are the small towns and villages east of the capital, Heraklion. Schools remain closed until further notice and people have been advised to seek a safe haven, Nova TV added.

Rescue teams managed to remove eight people trapped in their houses or cars.

The floods were caused by torrential rains that fell on the area in the early hours of Tuesday. Forecasters predict bad weather will continue until at least Thursday.
